The Detroit Lions announced today that they have released TE Will Heller.After joining the Lions prior to the 2009 season, Heller played in all 48 games and had 22 starts. He established career-highs in 2009 with 29 receptions, 296 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Heller finished the 2011 season with 6 receptions for 42 yards. He started in the team's NFC Wild Card game at New Orleans (1/7) and had a 10-yard touchdown reception on the team's opening drive.
