Allen Park, Mich.— The Detroit Lions announced today that they have acquired DT Corey Williams and a 2010 seventh round draft choice from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2010 fifth round draft pick.
Williams is a versatile, veteran defensive tackle who has played both defensive tackle and end in four-man and three-man fronts during his NFL career. He played with Green Bay from 2004-07 and with Cleveland from 2008-09. On February 29, 2008, Williams was traded to Cleveland from Green Bay for a Browns second round pick. He has played in 88 career games (38 starts) and registered 244 tackles (153 solo), 21.5 sacks (126.5 yards), one interception, 12 pass defenses, two fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles. Williams was originally drafted by Green Bay in the sixth round (179th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft.
