Allen Park, Mich. — The Detroit Lionshave named Tony Scarcelli of Marine City as the 2010 week eight recipient of the High School Coach of the Week Program presented by the Michigan Army National Guard.
Scarcelli guided his Marine City Mariners to a 56-21 victory over St. Clair Shores Lake Shore on Friday (Oct. 15) to improve to 7-1 on the season. Marine City is currently ranked No. 3 in Division 4 by the Detroit Free Press.
Scarcelli is in his 25th year as a coach at Marine City serving as head coach for the last six seasons and as an assistant for 19 seasons. His career record as head coach stands at 63-7 and includes the 2007 Division 4 state title and at least a share of the Macomb Area Conference (Gold Division) title all six seasons. The Mariner football program has never recorded a losing season in Scarcelli’s 25 years as a coach.
This week Scarcelli is preparing his squad to take on Grosse Pointe South (5-3).
