The Lions practiced in shorts on Sandoval Field (indoors) today at the team’s headquarters and practice facility in Allen Park.
The NFL has granted the Lions a 24-hour extension to reach a sellout for Sunday’s regular season home opening game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Ford Field. Approximately 2,000 tickets are still available to purchase. The game must be sold out by Friday, September 17 at 1 p.m. ET in order to lift the local television blackout (Metro Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo markets). If a sellout is not reached by the deadline, the game will not air in the blackout areas, including WJBK-TV FOX 2 in Metro Detroit.
RB Jahvid Best’s two rushing touchdowns at Chicago (9/12) marked the first time a rookie scored two rushing touchdowns in Week 1 of the NFL season since Chargers RB La Dainian Tomlinson registered two in the 2000 opener.
The following players have been listed on the Detroit Lions’ Injury Report:
DE Cliff Avril (knee/finger) and QB Matthew Stafford (right shoulder) did not practice. S C.C. Brown (forearm), S Louis Delmas (groin/biceps/calf) and LB DeAndre Levy (groin) were limited and RB Jahvid Best (toe) had full participation in practice today. Both Delmas and Levy were upgraded from no practice to limited participation today.
The following players were listed on the Philadelphia Eagles’ Injury Report today:
LB Stewart Bradley (concussion) and QB Kevin Kolb (concussion) did not practice. WR Jason Avant (back), DE Antwan Barnes (wrist), RB Mike Bell (toe), G Nick Cole (knee), G Todd Herremans (ankle), T Austin Howard (back), LB Akeem Jordon (groin), DT Trevor Laws (oblique) and P Saverio Rocca (left hamstring) each had full participation in practice today. DT Brodrick Bunkley (ankle) and LB Ernie Sims (wrist, quadricep) were removed from the injury report today and Avant, Jordon and Rocca were added.
