The team met today and reviewed film from Sunday’s 35-32 loss to Philadelphia at Ford Field. The players are off Tuesday and will return to the practice field Wednesday.
RB Jahvid Best rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns and caught nine passes for 154 yards and one touchdown against the Eagles. He is the first rookie in NFL history with at least 75 rushing yards, 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a single game. Best is the first player to accomplish the feat since Buffalo RB Joe Cribbs finished with 85 rushing yards and 163 receiving yards vs. Cleveland (11/01/81).
UPDATE: Best’s 154 receiving yards are the most by a rookie running back in the Super Bowl era. He has the most receiving yards by a first-year running back since Cowboys RB Herschel Walker registered 170 receiving yards at Philadelphia 12/14/86 (Walker was designated as a “first-year” player and not as a rookie in 1986 due to his previous pro football experience).
